Minions and Machines

Last night’s election results should be no surprise.
The GOP had an opportunity to right a great many wrongs over the last two years and, rather, squandered it rewarding mass murderers in the medical and military industrial complexes.
Many of us who voted for Republicans in 2024 had hoped to see an end to the war in Ukraine and accountability for the atrocities of the Covid response.
Instead, we got another war in the Middle East, $4 gasoline, and more gaslighting of those still suffering the consequences of lockdowns and mandates.
The blue bloodbath that took place yesterday in much of the country is not so much an endorsement of the totalitarianism to come from the Left, but more a criticism of the tone deafness of the Neocons on the Right.
Don’t assume we all voted for Democrats. (I have never and will never vote for a Democrat). Many are so disgusted and exhausted by the dog and pony show that is politics that they just stayed home.
I don’t blame them. I spent a lot of time and energy over the years supporting GOP candidates only to be given the finger when I, and many like me, needed them to stand up for the People and uphold their oaths to the defend the Constitution.
The economy is NOT booming for people without investments and guaranteed pensions. Workers struggling to pay rent and feed and clothe themselves are NOT benefiting from American tax dollars being shipped overseas or into the pockets of noncitizens living in the United States.
We certainly don’t appreciate watching our tax money be used to subsidize the lifestyles of the oligarchs who really run the country or the government hacks who serve them instead of us.
The Democrats who won this time, unlike Republicans in 2024, will take the 2026 results as a mandate to usher in whatever dystopian dreams have been promised by their campaigns.
If you think the economy isn’t so bad now or happen to be miraculously immune to inflation, just wait and see what a Democrat controlled Congress is going to do to anyone who isn’t already on the taxpayer teat.
In the meantime, I would love to see how many ballots were left blank or had alternative candidates written in because some of us are done checking off the lesser of two evils, but still want to exercise our right to vote while we still have it.
Too much work, I suppose, for the minions and machines who count them.
