If You Can Keep It

Happy Independence Day from the proud descendant of political and religious dissidents, economic refugees, and insurrectionists.

In one more year, the United States of America will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its founding.

The Republic resembles little of what the Founders intended. Our Senate and House of Representatives have morphed into an epic grift instead of a gathering of gentlemen farmers and entrepreneurs tending to the matter of ensuring the general populace is interfered with as little as possible by “government “.

Every aspect of our lives, including what we are expected to ingest or inject, is regulated by the ruling laptop class, much as it was in the Kingdoms of Europe when the first escapees of political, religious, and economic tyranny arrived in the “New World” over four hundred years ago.

We The People will not be saved by the new aristocracy of millionaires and bureaucrats.

By the way, if you could “work” from home in 2020, you are a member of the aristocracy and your salary does not need to be funded by the taxpayer.

Unlike the rest of the Western World, we still have the vestiges of Free Speech and the Right to Bear Arms. It is the only reason the United States didn’t completely collapse in the last five years.

However, the new Masters have done a very good job of creating a class of dependents who will continue to vote for more “free” stuff on the backs of the wage and tax slaves who don’t get write offs and refunds every April.

As said wage slave, at least for as long as I am able to get out of bed in the morning, it is a daily challenge not to be discouraged. I understand why my ancestors fled poverty and persecution and came to wilds of New England to work for themselves instead of the local Lord and Lady.

They knelt only before God and refused to kneel before Kings and Queens.

I, too, kneel before neither man nor mob.

And I hope, if we can keep it, the Republic still stands a year from now.
